In most ALL cases of sheet metal replacement, removal of the panel is required as part of the assessment.Often by the time rust appears on the outside of the panel, it has already spread deeper.

Once the panel is removed, during sheet metal work, any other rust issues can be addressed. This car was treated for surface rust behind the panel, painted flat black, and weld thru primer applied to the edges prior to the new quarter panel.

The panel is test fitted, and the door and striker / trunk lid, are checked and aligned for proper fit. Spot welds are applied via MIG / TIG welder, grinder, and seam sealed (where applicable).

This fender had been repaired incorrectly, by our standards. Under some newer body filler we found this mess while stripping the paint and primer, which we require on classic over all paint jobs.
